[APP][4.1+] YMusic - Listen YouTube music in background (2024)

Just a few ideas and suggestions - and some logcats on some issues.

Ideas
(Listed by importance)

- Showing previous online searches
When opening the online search window, it features a search bar, and a blank screen.
Once typing, the results are loaded, also with suggestions for completing the search, via YouTube's suggestions.
The idea here is that before any text is entered, the previously submitted searches could be shown? I often search the same text
This would be a locally stored list of the past values present in the search field, when pressing search.

- Treating playlist from online songs as the playlist from local songs.
When playing a song from YouTube, the suggested songs from YouTube is loaded in after the first song, in a playlist. This playlist generated from online songs, behave different than the playlist created when playing a local song. An important feature i miss, is the option to add an online song to the playlist currently playing, even if the songs are loaded from an online search result.

I realize that this may be a major change when looking at the code, but i really hope it will be considered. The current situation does not allow to add single songs from YouTube, to a playlist generated when you started to play the music. For example - "i want to hear music by XYZ, i search the artist and play". Five minutes later - "ah man, i really want to hear these to tracks from this ZYX artist" - i will have to wipe the entire playlist, as playing a new online song, replaces my playlist.... Hence, i have to revert back after the two tracks have been heard.

- Option to swipe away tracks from the playlist
Currently the tracks can be rearranged (YES!!) by dragging up and down, but removing a song is quite difficult, due to a two step process (press dots right of track in playlist, select remove). Also - damn you if you misclick the menu dots! It will play the song you wish to remove, yay!
Swiping a track left or right (left to download fast, right to remove? Or opposite, via an option? ) would be WAY easier :fingers-crossed: :good:

- Option to show playlists first in online search result
Currently the search result is loaded (sometimes with multiple pages?) with all playlists created by YouTube users at the bottom.
Depending on the search term, there are A LOT of songs to scroll past. Will the good developer consider an option to bring the playlists
before the songs? I use playlists created by other users a lot

Bugs

YMusic reverting playlist to the same songs?
The last few days i have had YMusic revert my playlist to the same three songs, randomly. When YMusic is running in the background, not playing music, it is suddenly showing a playlist of the three same songs. I have a logcat of this behavior, and also created a backup of the data associated to the app, if its needed in relation to investigating the data in the app causing the behavior (i think its stuck on something
)

Song and info "off by one"?
Today i experienced something weird. I was playing a playlist created by a YouTube user, and then suddenly, when the app changed track, it played the same track as before, though displaying the name of the next song on the list. This behavior were persistent when the song was finished. The app loaded the next song, and displayed the next song information - causing the elements (the song and the info) to still be "off by one". I have only seen this once.

Example, track #1 is playing, showing the info of track #1. Track #1 then finishes, and the info of track #2 is loaded, but track #1 is played again. When done, track #2 is played, and the info of track #3 is shown. Then track #3 is played, with the info of track #4 shown - and so one. Off by one.....

@khangneovip I will PM my catlogs and screenshots to you, both for the reverting playlist and off by one error - just ask :good:

Also - this app is super great - and yet we are still requesting features, but just to be clear - this app is perfect as is, these requests for functionality is absolutely not required to use this app!! :laugh: :highfive: :victory:
